Avocet (full ensemble)

As a band, Jerry, Mitch, Roz and Francis play and sing a wide range of lively Celtic and western European material, great for creating a "village" feeling at an outdoor market, fair or wine event. In addition to our Irish and Scottish instrumental material we sing enjoyable Celtic ballads, play Italian music on mandolin and accordion, and central France repertoire on the French hurdy gurdy and button accordion. We also play and sing an extensive old English Christmas repertoire, a great selection of St. Patrick's Day music, love songs for Valentine's day -- name your holiday! At your event we’ll keep things fun and lively and atmospheric.

Band Members

  • Jerry Fabiano picks beautiful melodies on the octave mandolin, guitar, and mandolin, and sings plaintively of highwaymen and parted lovers.

  • Roz Reynolds plays the primitive, haunting French hurdy-gurdy -- a cranked stringed instrument with medieval roots.

  • Mitch Gordon is a singer, an accordionist and hammered dulcimer player, and specializes in French and Irish dance music on the two-row button accordion.

  • Francis Small is a fine fiddle player, especially of Irish fiddle music, who just joined the group in December 2007. Welcome Francis!
